Seeking an addictions specialist to provide comprehensive substance use services, including assessments, treatment, and support for recovery to dually diagnosed individuals. Substance use services will be integrated and consistent with ongoing mental health treatment, including the involvement of a multidisciplinary clinical team. Candidates must have knowledge of diagnostic criteria based on the DSM-5-TR and knowledge of empirically validated treatment modalities to treat substance use disorders.
Responsibilities
* Assessing individuals with substance use disorders to determine the appropriate level of treatment based on ASAM Criteria.
* Providing counseling services, including individual and group counseling.
* Collaborating with staff who provide medical and detoxification services and follow-up.
* Providing treatment of mental illness and substance use disorders with a focus on understanding how they interact with each other.
* Addressing psychosocial problems and skill deficiencies with individualized programming, created through comprehensive assessment and consultation with the patient.
* Contributing to discharge planning, treatment continuity, and aftercare plans, which are integrated with the patient’s master treatment plan.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Minimum - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in clinical/counseling psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or a minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in clinical/counseling psychology, mental health counseling, or social work.
Licenses/Certifications:
Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (either Certified Associate Counselor – Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD) or Licensed Clinical Alcohol or Drug Counselor (LCADC) in Maryland is required. Certification and/or Licensure is required.
Position Type: Full-time, Hybrid
This is position reports to the Program Director. Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant supervisory experience working with adults who have a mental illness diagnosis. Minimum three years’ experience working with adults with an SMI diagnosis (serious mental illness). Knowledge of COMAR regulations for PRP is mandatory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete Carelon authorizations and ensure follow-up for approval.• Plan and facilitate educational activity-based groups.• Complete initial intakes and screenings in the office and within the community.• Development of the Individual Psychiatric Rehabilitation Treatment plans.• Provide care coordination that includes developing age-appropriate daily living skills, increasing community integration, and helping clients meet rehabilitation goals.• Track and organize documentation and authorization due dates.• Adequately communicate with internal and external program staff.• Develop and maintain relationships with other providers in the community• Conduct internal and external chart reviews. Develop and complete improvement plans as needed.• Review and sign off on all clinical documentation from PRP Counselors, which includes ensuring documentation is completed in a timely manner and that its content is of sufficient quality.• Attend and lead meetings to collaborate with client treatment teams.• Assist in training and supervision of direct service staff as instructed.• Complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record to include daily contact notes, assessments, and monthly summaries as required.• Perform case manager duties for designated clients or on an interim basis as needed.• Attend annual cultural competency and responsiveness trainings.
• Other duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
• Must be a Maryland-licensed mental health professional or have CPRP.
(***Please do not apply if you do not have an active CPRP or an equivalent licensure***)• At least 2 years of experience working with clients with severe emotional and/or psychiatric problems.• Ability to use a computer, phone, and electronic health record.• Have a Maryland State driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.• Be comfortable meeting clients in their home and community.• Strong time management and organizational skills.• Willingness to travel between program sites, client homes, and community centers as needed.
